Our pony days are available Monday to Friday during all school holidays, including half term holidays. There is a choice of a half day running from 9am-1pm or a full day, which runs from 9am-5pm. All children between the ages of 5 and 15 are welcome, even if they have never ridden before.
The day starts with registration where all children are allocated a riding time based on their current Santolina riding level and a pony/horse of their choice! (Have a look at “meet the horses” to see if you can find your favourite). We will then make sure that those that need them will have a hat and body protector fitted for their riding lesson. Please note for health and safety all children must wear a riding hat whilst at the stables.
Children are then divided into groups of no more than 5 children per group and are supervised throughout the day by a Santolina Staff member.
All staff supervising children on pony days have obtained a CRB check. Whilst in their groups, children will learn all about how to care and look after ponies through activities such as:
- Grooming
- Tacking up
- Leading in hand
- Rugging, leg and tail bandaging
- Mucking out
- Horse behaviour
- Horse first aid
Please contact us for an example schedule of a Santolina pony day.
We ask all parents to provide the children with their own packed lunches, with lots of snacks! (Please let us know if your child has any allergies so we are aware) We endeavour to give the children as many breaks as we can throughout the day as working with horses is thirsty work!
Please contact us if you would like more information on our pony days or if you would like to make a booking. Please note that children who have not attended Santolina Stables before will also need to complete a Rider Registration form.
